Proudly serving children and families in the Chicago NW Suburbs!

Welcome,

We are so glad you're here!

Play n' Grow OT is a neurodiversity affirming practice,

so we believe differences should be celebrated! And that kids should engage in meaningful activities which bring them authentic joy.

First and foremost, kids need to feel safe, calm and regulated in order to learn and grow. We make this our priority in sessions by placing the relationship at the forefront of therapy to help build a solid foundation of trust and mutual respect.

Our ultimate goal is to help your child navigate this thing called "life" with confidence, kindness (to themselves and others), and intention.

Occupational therapy interventions are rooted in understanding the whole child; including foundational capacities for development, their individual sensory profile, and their emotional support needs.

OT sessions are individualized to meet the child's needs and support the families' goals, and are facilitated within an inviting environment, usually within the context of their home. In therapy, we follow your child's lead. This means that interventions are play-based and follow your child’s interests and then we expand in a fun and engaging way. The child is still working hard on their goals as we challenge various skill areas, such as fine and gross motor skills, executive functioning skills, strength, balance, and coordination. Through these playful interactions, we work to help the child learn about their own individual sensory needs, identifying what they need or strategies they can use, and learning ways to self-advocate their needs in an assertive, confident and respectful manner.

What is Occupational Therapy?

Occupational Therapy (OT) addresses areas where delays (due to communication, emotional regulation, sensory, or other challenges) may prevent a person from fully engaging in meaningful life activities or daily routines, also known as "occupations". Examples of occupations include getting dressed, eating, brushing your teeth, sleeping, playing, socializing, going to school, etc.
